the Veil Nebula Even the Heavens dance with veils - The Veil Nebula - officially numbered NGC 6960 by the New General Catalog is the remnant of a Super Nova. It is roughly 1400 light years from Earth, so this picture represents what the nebula looked like approximatly 1400 years ago. This photo was taken October 21, 2006 by Astro-photographer Dave Trapani from the SkyRunner Observatory in Bergen County, NJ. Exposure time: 9 Minutes Considering the light pollution from nearby New York City (must be all the fabulous glittering belly dance costumes) the image still manages to capture the true brilliant color of the nebula.
