To begin, a brief description of fabric and veil shapes and how they affect movement will be given. Next, techniques in keeping the veil aloft and adding an ethereal quality to the dance including a brief introduction to large double veil will be demonstrated and practiced. Lastly, a short choreography that can be adapted to many songs and tempos will be taught. Limited veils of various fabric and shapes will be available for use during the workshop. Dancefest 2011 will feature three fabulous and unique classes: Fantasy Mélange with Michelle DeVine - Bellydance inspired by Vaudeville, as taught by a leading teacher in progressive bellydance fusion; Theatrical Mélange with Farasha - adding dance melodrama to a mysterious & catchy Natacha Atlas song; and Oriental Mélange with Su'ad - showing you how to bring the beauty of the oriental veil to non-oriental music.
